How a Houston Night Spot Makes Green Fun

Why does a popular Washington Avenue hotspot just shut its doors one day, closing a chapter on great success—and then re-open as a totally re-imagined concept?
“We’d done the wine thing,” says Andrew Adams, co-owner with his brother Doyle of the popular wine bar The Corkscrew, which shuttered earlier this spring. “And there are so many wine bars in Houston now that we figured we could do something new and totally different in the scene on Washington.”
That’s how Sugarcane came to be. The new bar is dedicated to helping people see that using locally grown ingredients can make fantastic drinks.
